Christina Sgouromiti holds a PhD in Art Theory and History from the Athens School of Fine Arts and the Department of Social Anthropology, University of the Aegean. Her research focuses on artists’ communities from the turn of the century until 1960, in Southeastern Europe (2016, Cum Laude). After graduating with a BA Hons in Painting (2002), she completed the MA course in Drawing at Camberwell College of Art, University of the Arts, London (2004). She has been appointed Arts Coordinator at Mithymna Municipal Gallery (2011-2013) and has collaborated in curating and production of exhibitions at the S. Tryphon Arts Foundation in Lesbos, in collaboration with the Athens School of Fine Arts (2014-2016). She has published extensively in cultural magazines and has participated in several international conferences on the crossroads of contemporary art, contemporary social theory and philosophy of art. She is appointed Research and Teaching Assistant in Art and Research Methodology for the Arts, at the Painting Department of Athens Academy of Fine Arts. She lives in Athens but works everywhere.
