Martha Sakellariou (b. in Athens, Greece) lives and works in Palo Alto California. As a visual artist who employs interdisciplinary, collaborative and public engagement practices she creates multimedia installations that include visual interventions, performances and actions. She works with a variety of media in the form of prints, video, audio, textiles, sculpture, paintings, edibles. Her practice encompasses public and private spaces, structures of living, objects and visual storytelling in an ongoing investigation that explores themes on home, community, domesticity and identity. Martha has exhibited and curated projects as an independent artist and on collaborative platforms internationally. She is the recipient of several awards and scholarships and her work has been presented in group and solo exhibitions and belongs to public and private collections internationally. She obtained her Master’s degrees from the Royal College of Art in London UK and BFA in painting from the National Athens School of Fine Art, Greece (ASFA). Since 2018 Martha is an artist in residence at the City of Palo Alto Public Art CASP residency studio program.
