Papadopoulou Natasha

Natasha Papadopoulou, born in Thessaloniki, Greece, lives and works in Amsterdam. Papadopoulou’s background in photography in the School of Visual Arts, Master of Voice at the Sandberg Instituut and body practices, comes together in performative and participatory situations she creates. Papadopoulou appropriates physical practices and eastern epistemologies, juxtaposing them with linguistic schemes to ignite a body and mind consensus of the senses. Her practice is best understood as a safe place for disciplined bodies and contorted minds. Imagining an art discipline where linguistics, somatic performance and health meet. Her performances have been commissioned by institutions such as; Framer Framed, Amsterdam (2019); Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam (2018); Perdu, Amsterdam (2018); Kim? Museum of Contemporary Art, Riga (2018); National Museum of Contemporary Art EMST, Athens (2018); Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham (2016); De Appel, Amsterdam (2016); Kunsthalle Athena, Athens (2016): Thessaloniki Biennale, Thessaloniki (2015, 2019).
